Weymouth police row for late harbormaster Paul Milone

Police Chief Richard Fuller said “it was only fitting” to rename Seawatch. “Paul was the kind of guy who would drop everything he was doing to help someone,” he said. “He always had a smile on his face and a kind word. This world needs more people like Paul Milone. When Paul passed away in December, we knew right away that we wanted to rename the boat after Paul.” Fuller said Milone spent months and months designing the boat renamed after him and manufactured last year by Safe Boats International, a Bremerton, Washington State-based firm. Safe Boats officials stated they worked closely with Milone “…to configure the boat to his exact specifications, and it was fitting to rename the craft in his memory at the beginning of National Police Week.

Rolling Memorial Day parade to honor Weymouth s fallen veterans

Wicked Local Weymouth Veterans Services Director George Pontes said there is an intense desire among residents to honor fallen military personnel on Memorial Day, May 31, with a rolling parade despite the coronavirus pandemic. “It will begin at Weymouth High School to incorporate more of the town,” he said. “The police and school department are very supportive and responding to the requests of residents.” Pontes said the parade route would begin at the high school instead of Broad Street to allow more people to see the procession. The procession gets underway at 11 a.m. and will proceed from the high school down Pleasant Street toward Jackson Square.
