Another day with new cases reported across the Quinte region

We’re closing out the work with another round of new cases across the region. Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is reporting three new COVID-19 cases. One case is travel-related, the other is outbreak-related and the last new case is a close-contact. There are now a total of 13 active cases, as the region remains in the green-zone. 4 active cases in Belleville 3 active cases in Tyendinaga & Deseronto (2 of those on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory) 2 active cases in Prince Edward County 1 active case in Quinte West 1 active case in Centre Hastings The Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte announced today that one person who recently tested positive for COVDI-19 has died. That is the first COVDI-19 related death on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory since the start of the pandemic in March.

Cobourg Police confirm three positive cases of COVID-19

The police service made the announcement on Saturday, saying they first became aware that a staffer had received a positive result on Thursday. As a result of case and contract tracing, two other staff members were identified and went on to test positive. Police chief, Paul VandeGraaf, says they’re working with the health unit to take all necessary precautions and minimize risk to the community. There has been no disruption to Cobourg Police service delivery. The community is being reminded the station remains closed due to COVID-19, but that many services are accessible over the phone or online, or you can call 905-372-6821.

It is in the Canadian Charter of Rights, but when you deface someone else’s property, that becomes a criminal issue,” VandeGraaf said in a statement. “Someone decided to deface a memorial to war veterans a complete disregard for the thousands of Canadian Armed Forces personnel who served and the 162 Canadians who died for peace and freedom to the people of Afghanistan.”
