ryan is moving forward. he made that very clear. he just wants to do that on his terms with the hard liners on his side and the moderates on his side. he s setting the pace of this entire discussion, but he is moving towards running for speaker, no doubt about it. is he going to have to run for speaker or is he h just going to stand there, robert, as he said tonight, and have them come to him? it s not about whether he has the 218 votes he needs. his advisers tell me he already has that locked down. it s about getting to that number closer to 2467, the number of house republicans in congress. he wants to get 235, 240, so those hard liners who don t vote for them are on the fence, they re on the sidelines. luke russert, robert costas tells us team ryan believes they have the votes now. i think that s right. i think they believe that paul ryan had an outstanding performance tonight in front of his house gop conference colleagues.
