Emma Felton   In this series we pay tribute to the art we wish could visit and hope to see once travel restrictions are lifted. As winter digs in across the country, I’ve been thinking of summer days in Europe. How pleasant to be back in sunny, southern France among the vineyards and hum of crickets, rather than trapped on our large island continent with little prospect of a return to Europe anytime soon. One of the highlights of my visit to that region in the summer of 2017 was the surprising Château La Coste, an art and architecture park in the heart of Provence, about 15 kilometres north of the university town of Aix-en-Provence.

When We Were Trees on display at Hopkinton Center for the Arts

‘When We Were Trees’ on display at Hopkinton Center for the Arts Community Content HOPKINTON   The exhibit “When We Were Trees” is now on display to the public through Aug. 27 in The Lotvin Family Gallery at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts, 98 Hayden Rowe St., Hopkinton.   In “When We Were Trees,” Linda Hoffman and her daughter Ariel Matisse demonstrate, through the mutuality and interconnectedness of their art, how women empower each other when they connect with nature, trees, and their own bodies.  A public, in-person reception with the artists will take place from 5-6:30 p.m. Aug. 13. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
