Tomorrow is Mother s Day LISTEN
Sunday, May 9, is Mother s Day and Ghana will join the rest of the world to recognise the immeasurable contribution of mothers and mother figures in building the lives of children and dependents.
Europe, Africa and South America, among others, took lead from the United States practice of celebrating the Day on the second Sunday of May, every year.
According to www.history.com, Mother s Day dates back to the ancient Greeks and Romans who celebrated in the honour of other goddess Rhea and Cybele, however, in the contemporary world, it is found in Mothering Sunday , which was the fourth Sunday in Lent, celebrated in the UK and some parts of Europe.
The Reverend Professor Paul Frimpong-Manso, General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, has asked the citizenry not to relent in making mothers feel special. “On this Special Day, I humbly appeal to all sons and daughters around the globe, that we take a moment to see, say, and or send our mothers something unique and memorable,” he said. In a Mother s Day Message, copied to the Ghana News Agency, Rev Prof Frimpong-Manso said: “Mothers are imprinted on our hearts and souls, no matter the circumstances – past or future, not even coronavirus.” He said some mothers were hurt and others groaning and that the occasion provided a good opportunity to soothe their wounds and tell them how special they were.

After 30 years of dedicated and diligent service to the market leader in the media landscape, the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL), I started my terminal leave yesterday and will bow out finally from this noble organisation on May 3, 2021.
I remain very grateful to the GCGL, for giving me the opportunity to ply my trade as a journalist after graduating from the Ghana Institute of Journalism.
The company has been the fortress of my life and it has immensely impacted my life, both professionally and in my family life.
It was during my working life at Graphic that I got married and had my four children. In terms of support, it was Graphic that took care of the medical and other miscellaneous bills of my nuclear family, which is rare in most organisations.
