We have a death as a result of vehicle verses pedestrian type of collision. The driver drove away, didnt try to contact anyone to render aid to the victim, never called 911. We are trying to identity who this driver is. Reporter police spent about four hours taking measurements, gathering evidence. There was little activity at the intersection and witnesses were difficult to come by due to the early hour. At 6 40 the coroner removed the body of the victim from the roadway. During the day the intersection is a bustling hub of activity with pedestrians, cars, buses, bikes and scooters headed in all directions. The design is purposeful and organized. 54yearold man who appears homeless and using a walker at the corner of mason and eddie streets in San Francisco. He got stuck beneath the trailer as it dragged him to fifth and market streets. The driver of the big rig kept going till police pulled him over at the corner of broadway and front nearly two hours front. He remained there speaking with investigators till noon. This mornings accident is the 20th fatality on San Francisco city streets this year, a number that includes pedestrian and bicyclists and drivers with the tenderloin rankings as one of the citys most dangerous areas. The San Francisco metropolitan and commission had investigates in the neighborhood today looking for clues as to what might have happened.
