good morning. i m in for anne-marie green. in the senate the debate over rules for president trump s impeachment trial stretched well past midnight before finally wrapping up. the republican controlled chamber rejected several amendments proposed by the democrats. that included a subpoena for testimony from john bolton. president trump is set to return to washington today after attending an economic conference in davos, switzerland. catherine johnson is on capitol hill where things wrapped up hours ago. catherine what trial rules did the senators agree on? reporter: as you mentioned despite democrats best efforts over 13 marathon hours and 11 amendments senate majority leader mitch mcconnell s rules passed without amendments. he did make a few changes, however, that basically allow for more breaks during opening arguments for these senators. initially senate majority leader mitch mcconnell had proposed to give each side 24 hours over just two days for those opening argument
