Maybe you ve heard the parable about the blind men and the elephant where, never having seen the animal, they try to describe it.
“Those Who Wish Me Dead” is the movie version of that.
Despite a considerable amount of talent involved, it seems like it was cobbled together from a bunch of different parts that don’t fit together. Directed by Taylor Sheridan, who gets a free pass for life for writing “Hell or High Water,” and starring Angelina Jolie (sort of), it’s a film about a smokejumper trying to overcome tragedy.
It’s also about a kid on the run from assassins. It’s about what transpired to compel that kid to run, which involves his father, an accountant and yet more tragedy. It’s about a wildfire raging out of control. In its best moments, it’s about the disgruntled nature of the assassins chasing after the kid.

On view through March 7, the exhibit "OK/LA" features an eclectic array of paintings, photographs, books and more by Mason Williams, Patrick Blackwell, Joe Goode, Jerry McMillan, Paul Ruscha and his older brother, Ed Ruscha.

Now that we’ve said goodbye to the inaugural exhibit at Oklahoma Contemporary, and in keeping with the new year, it’s time to look forward to the art center’s next major exhibition in its striking new building.
“Ed Ruscha: OKLA” opens Feb. 11 and represents the first solo exhibition of the Los Angeles artist’s work in his home state and his hometown, a news release noted. Ruscha graduated from Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City and lives in Los Angeles now.
