SDSMT awards posthumous diploma to 25-year old killed in motorcycle accident

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology awarded 25-year old Grayson Young, who was killed in a motorcycle accident on November 20, his posthumous diploma. During the virtual commencement, Grayson’s name appeared alongside fellow 2020 graduates. The end of the stream also highlighted Grayson. Mike Young, Grayson’s father, says his son excelled academically and yet always found the time to give back to his community.
“Grayson loved people. He enjoyed teaching violin at his church to students and also he would occasionally buy necessities for families that might need them like shoes, and he also took the elderly people to church, so that’s really who Grayson was. He was just a great kid” said Mike.
