The Parliament canteen s revised prices, which will come into effect from January 29 when the Budget Session starts, show most items will be sold at par with market rates.

The Parliament will serve an elaborate menu this Budget session, but no more at a stealing price as the Lok Sabha Secretariat does away with the subsidies on the food in the canteen for the country’s lawmakers.

New Delhi, Jan 26: The ITDC run Parliament canteen will offer as many as 58 food items, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian from January 27 onwards an internal circular said. A buffet lunch will cost Rs 700, while an aloo Bonda will be priced at Rs 10 in the Parliament canteen.
For the first time, food will be served with a no-profit, no-loss approach. A vegetarian biryani will cost Rs 50, while the cost of chicken biryani is priced at Rs 100. The mutton biryani is priced at Rs 150, while a veg thali will cost Isa 100. Customers will have to shell out Rs 110 for a plate of fish and chips.

Food served in Parliament canteens for MPs and others will become costlier as a subsidy given for it has been stopped, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said on Tuesday.While Birla did not specify the financial implications of the move, sources said the Lok Sabha Secretariat can annually save more than Rs 8 crore with the subsidy coming to an end.
