Eight people were reportedly injured and taken to the hospital after a fire broke out Sunday evening at the high-rise Parkview Place Apartments in Detroit.
Lamont Shirley, who was visiting his mother at the apartment complex, near Chene and Robert Bradby Drive (north of Lafayette), helped to rescue a resident, according to WJBK-TV (Channel 2). Shirley told Fox 2 Detroit he rushed to the unit on fire, kicked in the door and pulled a man out.
Fire officials are investigating the cause.
