The incident shut down Route 22 for much of the day and put nearby Bonny Eagle High School and Middle School on high alert. It s not affecting the operation of the schools, but we are taking extra precautions. SROs are on site, MSAD6 Superintendent Paul Penna told NEWS CENTER Maine Thursday morning.

Police response closes road in Buxton, nearby schools in lockout situation

Maine man accused of assaulting woman, causing several-hour standoff © Tom Morris Buxton road closed A Maine man is facing several charges after police said he caused a standoff that lasted for several hours Thursday in Buxton. Police said Michael Landry assaulted a woman he had been ordered to have no contact with. Sign up for our Newsletters Armed with a knife, he fled to a shed before giving himself up peacefully several hours later. Landry faces several charges, including domestic violence aggravated assault. Part of Long Plains Road was closed and Bonny Eagle high and middle schools went into lockout while police negotiated with Landry.
