LANCASTER, Pa. A summertime institution is returning to Long s Park in Lancaster County this summer.
After a one-year hiatus brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Long s Park Summer Music Series announced it will return to the lawn with a full lineup of shows beginning July 11, the Long s Park Amphitheater Foundation announced Thursday.
The music series has shortened its lineup to eight shows from the customary 13, and there will be no fireworks show around the July 4th holiday this year, organizers said.
But the popular music series is back after a year off, and organizers expect there to no limits on seating arrangements or capacity based on the loosening of CDC and state COVID-19 restrictions.
Nearly two years after the last in-person concert of the Long s Park Summer Music Series closed out the season, the beloved series will return to Lancaster County on Sunday, July 11 with a full lineup of musical acts to provide free entertainment in the park for eight weeks this summer.
Notable names this year include songwriter Paul Thorn, blues rocker Maggie Rose and the Kenny Rogers Band, made up of Rogers former tour and studio band. Local talent will come in the form of an end of season tribute to Live Aid, headed up by Phil Kresge.
The season will feature eight concerts as opposed to the regular 13.
After a season of virtual concerts, summer Sundays will once again be filled with the sounds of music at Long s Park.
The Long s Park Summer Music Series will return for free weekly concerts beginning on Sunday, July 11. According to Long s Park Amphitheater Foundation President Dave Wauls, the list of participating artists is still yet to come as logistics are still being arranged.
2020 saw the cancelation of both the Summer Music Series, as well as the Long s Park Summer Art, which is also set to return Labor Day weekend.
In lieu of a regular concert season, the Long s Park Amphitheater Foundation held a mixture of bands performing on stage with no audience, virtual concerts from artists homes and studios and footage of concerts past.
