local first of all, we can confirm that his family was taken there by a police lieutenant and was there with him in the hospital as were many members of police and fire departments. that the police officer is stable was in stable condition when he was taken into surgery. we don t know what the surgery was for, but we have been told repeatedly that it s not believed that his injuries are life-threatening. information on the four members of the military we strongly now believe members of the marine corps in one way or another the specifics of their injuries and their status at this moment we do not know but we are expecting to get it from the news conference which authorities said would begin about five minutes ago. they certainly have a lot to pull together from these two different scenes including where the suspect apparently got away and then was neutralized in nearby woods. all of the other lockdowns in the area which were under way and in place for quite some time a mall and a n
there say the man didn t even realize that he had been shot. and that s when the shooter moved on. now, when the shooter got to the second location the shooter was out of the vehicle. exactly how things transpired there, we don t know except for the reporting of the witness, whom we heard with jenna and jon a short time ago who suggested there were up to 100 shots fired and that it went on for some 20 minutes. as she describes it initially it was the one shooter and then multiple shooters. the reason for that is not to indicate there was a second shooter but that police and this and this suspect were in a shootout of some kind and at some point the shooter apparently got away to some nearby woods where later a reporter for the times free press, the local chattanooga newspaper, heard shots fired, two of them in the woods right off the second location. and that s when we believe that the shooter was taken down and the active shooting situation ended. we have an update on the officer wh
