This column was originally published on Dec. 12, 1954, a little more than a month after the Clarks arrived in the U.S. on the SS United States. The Clarks would later settle in Houston’s East End and become naturalized citizens in 1961. Arthur Clark eventually found employment here as a postal clerk. He died in 1982 at the age of 64.
