LOVES PARK Fans of music and sports, and those looking for an opportunity to get outdoors, can look forward to a four-day summer festival headlined by Cheap Trick at Rivets Stadium.
StarEvents, a Chicago-based company that specializes in festivals, and the city of Loves Park on Friday announced the inaugural Long Play Music Fest. It will feature music, including Rockford s native Rock-and-Roll hall-of-famers, carnival games and rides for children, local vendors and a baseball game.
The festival serves as a coming home party for StarEvents CEO and Guilford High School alumni John Barry, who said he wants to give back to the community he grew up in. Barry recalls attending Cheap Trick concerts as a teenager and young adult, so being able to curate an event headlined by his favorite Rockford band is life coming full circle.
