In Assam s Haflong constituency, even though 90 people were eligible to exercise their franchise, total 171 votes were cast in a booth in Assam s Dima Hasao district, which went to the polls in the second phase on April 1.
Five poll officials were suspended by district election officer citing dereliction of duty.
On April 2, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer of Dima Hasao issued the suspension order but on Monday morning the incident came to light.

Six polling officials have been suspended in Assam after the Election Commission found that 181 votes had been cast at a booth in Dima Hasao district that had only 90 registered voters.
The booth is in the Haflong constituency that voted in the second phase on April 1. Officially the constituency - won by the BJP s Bir Bhadra Hagjer in 2016 - recorded only 74 per cent polling.
Sources said the poll body plans to issue a re-poll order for this booth, which was an auxiliary polling station for the main centre. An official order to this effect has yet to be issued.

Total 171 votes were cast in a booth in Assam s Dima Hasao district, even though 90 people were eligible to exercise their franchise, officials said on Monday (April 5), revealing a massive irregularity.
The booth is in the Haflong constituency, which went to the polls in the second phase on April 1 (Thursday). Haflong witnessed 74 per cent polling.
As the incident came to light, the District Election Officer (DEO) suspended five poll officials of the booth, set up at 107(A) Khotlir LP School, and proposed a repoll.
However, the official order for re-election at the booth, an auxiliary polling station of the main voting centre at Mouldam LP School, is yet to be issued.
