The American Booksellers Association’s annual celebration of indie bookstores is typically held on the last Saturday in April. In early 2020, as the pandemic spread, Independent Bookstore Day was rescheduled to the last Saturday in August, in hopes that bookstores would be operating normally by then. We all know how that story ended. For 2021, with a year of pandemic selling experience under everyone’s belts, Independent Bookstore Day is back to its usual April date.
