J-K L-G directs for setting up COVID care centre ANI 20 May 2021, 10:18 GMT+10 New Delhi [India], May 20 (ANI): In a bid to strengthen health infrastructure in rural areas amid the COVID-19 second wave, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday directed district authorities to ensure a five-bed COVID Care Centre in every panchayat of the Union Territory. He also approved Rs 1 lakh from the district Capex budget for the creation of facilities in schools, community halls, and panchayat ghars in consultation with the nearest health centre and panchayat representatives. In a series of tweets, Sinha directed the deputy commissioners and health department to ensure a COVID care centre in every panchayat of Jammu and Kashmir as many households may not have the option for isolation of COVID positive patients.

COVID-19: Centre releases Rs 8923.8 crore to panchayats in 25 states ANI | Updated: May 09, 2021 11:34 IST New Delhi [India], May 9 (ANI): The Department of Expenditure has released an amount of Rs 8,923.8 crore in advance to 25 states for providing grants to the Rural Local Bodies (RLBs) in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ministry of finance informed on Sunday. The grants are meant for all the three tiers of Panchayati Raj Institutions village, block, and district, the ministry said in a statement. The amount released is the first installment of the Untied Grants for the year 2021-22. It may be utilised by the RLBs, among other things, for various prevention and mitigation measures needed to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, it will augment resources to the three tiers of Panchayats for fighting the contagion. The state-wise amount of the grant released is enclosed.
