This project dates back to storms that occurred in September 2018, causing an estimated $1 million in damage, as well as Tropical Storm Irene in 2011. Commissioner David Lipinski pushed for approval, saying, they ve been waiting for three years down there to start the project. Commissioner Thomas Robinson produced a letter from the Berkshire Environmental Action Team (BEAT) expressing concern about the project. Ultimately, however, Robinson and the other commission members rejected the letter because representatives did not attend the publicly available meeting.

NAUGATUCK â Whether the pending sale of Pan Am Railways, Inc., ultimately impacts the boroughâs plan to develop an intermodal transportation hub remains to be seen, but for now officials are proceeding as planned.
âWeâve been aware of the sale for a long time and weâre working with several entities to get the best outcome for the borough of Naugatuck,â Mayor N. Warren âPeteâ Hess said.
The project, dubbed the âPort of Naugatuck,â is a proposed inland port and intermodal transportation hub on the mostly-vacant 86.5 acre parcel of land along Elm Street that is owned by Lanxess, the successor of Chemtura Corp. The hub would be used to transport goods to and from trucks and trains for warehousing and distribution. It would also allow international goods to go through customs in the b
