The On the Way Chevron convenience store on Baxter Street was burglarized Sunday for a third time in recent weeks, and the owner said Tuesday the crime appears to be the work of the same man.
“If you look over the camera (footage), it appears to be the same person,” store owner Pamela Fernandez said.
In the previous two burglaries, the man damaged windows and reached inside to steal merchandise. But this time Fernandez said he managed to get inside the convenience store.
“There was a lot of damage,” she said.
While the burglar stole almost $350 in tobacco products, he caused about $1,750 in damage to the window, money order monitor and display cases, according to ac Athens-Clarke police report.
