What one county supervisor wants to do. And they have to process the kits more quickly. Cindy chavez recommended the District Attorneys Office take steps to process all Sexual Assault kits within 30 days of receiving them. When someone reports they are a victim of Sexual Assault or rape. They have to do through an exam with a Sexual Assault nurse. The evidence is part of a Sexual Assault kit and is turned over to investigators. We have women and children who are victims of this horrific crime and anything we can do to alleviate their suffering we should absolutely do. There are 270 kits and last year it took 94 days for a kit to be processed. Sippedy chavez says the timeline must improve. Were hoping to get every kit processed in 30 days. We have this just in from Fairfax County just days after a judges ruling the county is unsealing some documents in its case against Jesse Matthew jr. , the man who is facing rape and attempted murder charges there and kidnapping and murder charges in charlottesville in the death of Hannah Graham.
