Tried to handcuff him, a struggle ensued and during that struggle, brooks grabbed an officers taser then shortly after, he took off running. And it was while running away that video shows brooks turning around and pointing what appears to be the taser at the officer. One of the officers then fires three times at brooks. An autopsy confirmed that brooks died of gun shot wounds to the back. News of the incident had rapid repercussions across the city.
