Inverclyde Voices have handed over £10,000 from a string of successful online concerts and events. The big-hearted bunch defied the pandemic for the compassionate place of care after it was selected as their dedicated charitable cause for 2020. Despite none of the usual events in the calendar taking place, conductor Palma Allan MBE ensured that members have still been rehearsing each week and dedicating their efforts to fundraising. Palma, who has been at the heart of the choir for over 15 years, said: We had a whole year of activities planned but with the restrictions we had to change our approach. We ve been holding online concerts and virtual choirs since March and we ve probably been able to raise just as much virtually as we would ve at our usual venues.
Christmas is, amongst other things, a time for music, and the following five shots recall the popular Inverclyde Schools Concerts that have taken place in the past. School concerts are staged in Greenock Town Hall in winter and summer and always played to a full house, giving our young musicians a chance to shine in front of teachers, parents, and the public. It has been said by many from out-with our community that Inverclyde schools boast some of the best music departments to be found anywhere in the country. Here are five of the many shots that appeared in our concert picture spreads in years gone by.
