But in the next 48 hours there could be Hurricane Force wind gusts on floridas east coast. We have hurricane warnings in place. Haiti got pounded. The eastern part of cuba. That initial position east of guantanamo bay, about 65 miles. You see the forecast track taking it as a category 4. Potentially down to a category 3, but still, a major hurricane. You can see the window of it does include polk county. Highlands county. This is is a cone of air. Whatever you want to call it. Over time, there is error in the forecast, it can change either wes
It is a category four hurricane. Now, this is the latest track. And i wanted to show you this because, you can see where comes very close to florida and it goes right up the eastern seaboard and maybe skims cape cod. Have a lot of folks that live locally from new england so you may want to keep an eye on that. Wanted to focus more on what the impact is from the sta is taking them about 30 or 40 miles east of the florida east coast. And, if this track were to verify they would have that along the east coast. And, still close enough. Two days before the going to happen but there is time for this to nudge west. Neck of the woods, not nearly as ominous. And, i think that it actually swings back Tropical Storm force winds in our area. Overall, look at the spaghetti models. They go out to see. It get into the eastern tip of cuba and by early tomorrow morning, it is working its way across the bahamas so this will continue to be a very powerful system. Its not really going to lose a whole lot of steam moving over this area. Theres a lot of warm water, light wind shear so conditions will continue to be variable that we will continue to see a strong storm over the next several days. It makes its way through the bahamas and theres that shift, that bend more towards the west so still were keeping it off the coast of florida but were getting it closer and closer to the state and were certainly within that cone across portions oflori s and into friday. There are now Tropical Storm watch is in effect in the bay area. That happened just after midnight for sumter, highland and polk county. I dont think you will fill the force winds today. Even though the watch was issued it means 48 hours because we expect the stronger stand for winds tomorrow and on into friday. Hereth is still a category 3 storm. It interacted a bit with the eastern portion of cuba. It weakens slightly to 125 mile perhour trend for. It will strengthen again by tomorrow afternoon. This is thursday at 2 pm at 130 mile per hour winds making it a category 4 storm. The forecast keeps it close to the Cape Canaveral area as we head into friday afternoon and early saturday morning. Polk county are in this threat zone but all of the models are in the agreement that it will help along the eastern coast of florida. Once it gets up into the carolinas that is when things get iffy.
