MICRONESIAN Brokers Inc. on Thursday informed the public that the Ox & Palm corned beef products sold on island are not part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture recall, and are safe for consumption. The letter from Micronesian Brokers was signed by its general manager, Dennis Yoshimoto, and Dr. Paul Pomes, a USDA inspector who can be contacted at (671) 929-4840. Micronesian Brokers said all Ox & Palm products “are made with Angus Beef and are of the highest quality. Micronesian Brokers…imports…directly from Heinz Australia. All products are inspected by a USDA inspector and each case has a USDA inspection stamp.”

The products were imported into the U.S. from June 6, 2020, to Jan. 21 this year, the FSIS said in the  recall notice. The agency found out about the issue when it received a tip from an industry representative.

Ox & Palm Canned Corned Beef Recalled For Lack of Inspection Milky Way International Trading Corporation, doing business as MW Polar of Norwalk, California, is recalling about 297,715 pounds of ready to eat Ox & Palm Canned Corned Beef because they were imported and distributed in this country without the benefit of import re-inspection. Lack of inspection is not allowed. No illnesses ore adverse reactions have been reported to the company to date in connection with this issue. The corned beef was imported from Australia. The corned beef items were imported on various dates between June 6, 2020 to January 21, 2021. The cans were labeled with various “best by” dates and the product cases are labeled with shipping marks. You can see the product names, package sizes, weights, and number of cans, product codes, shipping marks, best before dates, and can codes at a USDA web page.
