Palaver Strings to perform via livestream from State Theatre

Read Article Palaver Strings presents Metamorphosis at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, on Facebook hosted by the State Theatre. The livestream is free to watch, with donations encouraged. Metamorphosis explores the beauty of pain and transformation through the lens of two monumental works for string orchestra. Strauss’s Metamorphosen looks back on what once was, bearing witness to the trauma and destruction of World War II. Schoenberg’s Verklartke Nacht, meanwhile, looks inward, towards the possibility of redemption through love. Palaver presents these pieces side by side, asking ourselves and our audience to reflect on the meaning of change in our lives. Complete with stunning visuals by videographer Yoon S. Byun and a special pre-concert discussion.

Rockport Music to hold spring concerts, lectures Community Content Throughout this spring, Rockport Music will focus its virtual concerts around its Education and Outreach Program, providing a string of free lecture/performance concerts for the public. The purpose of these adult education concerts is to provide context and illumination to composers, specific pieces and musical styles, enriching the dynamic live performances with shared insights. The upcoming concerts are: • Palaver Strings, April 15. The chamber ensemble will be giving a two-part lecture/performance, beginning with Strauss on April 8 and Schoenberg on April 15. • Abigale Reisman, April 30. Accompanied by pianist Hankus Nesby, the violinist, known for her work in the great Ezekiel s Wheels Band, will be giving a lecture/performance on klezmer music.

(Photo courtesy Bay Chamber Concerts) Bay Chamber Concerts presents the virtual premiere of Coral Suite featuring Palaver Strings, Dana Lyn and Kyle Sanna, airing Thursday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m., on Bay Chamber’s YouTube channel. Coral Suite is an evocative, multimedia performance that mirrors the life cycles and natural processes that occur within coral reef ecosystems. Drawing on the rich vocabulary of Irish melody, and using light boxes and animated projections featuring Dana Lyn’s artwork, Lyn and Sanna create an audiovisual poem for the reef, calling attention to the urgent need for its protection.
