Palaver Strings presents Metamorphosis at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, on Facebook hosted by the State Theatre. The livestream is free to watch, with donations encouraged.
Metamorphosis explores the beauty of pain and transformation through the lens of two monumental works for string orchestra. Strauss’s Metamorphosen looks back on what once was, bearing witness to the trauma and destruction of World War II. Schoenberg’s Verklartke Nacht, meanwhile, looks inward, towards the possibility of redemption through love. Palaver presents these pieces side by side, asking ourselves and our audience to reflect on the meaning of change in our lives. Complete with stunning visuals by videographer Yoon S. Byun and a special pre-concert discussion.
