Coimbatore MP and senior leader of CPI-M, P.R. Natarajan, has demanded a detailed inquiry in a case of misspelling the name of a railway station in Tamil language.The MP said on Friday that he had already written a letter to the Union Railway .

70 loco pilots in Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad Railway divisions affected The second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic is threatening to derail train operations in the railway network of Kerala with the frontline personnel, including 70 loco pilots in Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad Railway divisions, testing positive for the virus. Around 400 Railway personnel in the two divisions based in the State capital and Palakkad have been infected with COVID-19 and either hospitalised or subjected to quarantine or isolation as on Tuesday. The national transporter is worried over the train operations, as 42 loco pilots of Palakkad division and 28 of Thiruvananthapuram division are out of the roster due to COVID. In Palakkad division, 46 people in the Engineering and 27 of the Commercial wing have tested positive.

Four wagons of goods train derail near Coimbatore | Coimbatore News

Representative image COIMBATORE: Four wagons of a goods train derailed on the ACC Cements factory premises at Madukkarai near Coimbatore in the early hours of Thursday. No one was injured. Since the derailment happened on an exclusive track, operations on the main railway tracks were not affected. Palakkad division of Southern Railway said the derailment happened around 4.45 am when the ACC cement’s engine was trying to attach itself to one of the wagons a process called shunting. “The engine and coach did not align with each other properly while attaching. Due to the impact of the engine hitting the wagon, four wagons derailed,” said a spokesperson of the Palakkad Railway Division.
