Gracing the stages of all the major dancehalls, hotels and theatres must have been a major change for Paddy O’Brien from his young days working in a bacon factory in Cappoquin in West Waterford.
During the 1960s and 1970s while The Clancy Brothers were taking America and other parts of the world by storm and while The Dubliners, The Chieftains, The Wolfe Tones and The Bothy Band were on the crest of a wave here at home, individual folk singers such as Johnny McEvoy and Danny Doyle were two of the country’s biggest attractions.
