They added that unidentified suspects opened fire on the victims near Pareshan Chowk in Faqeera Goth.
As a result, Khalid Rind was gunned down while another unidentified person was wounded. The dead and the wounded were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
SITE Superhighway Industrial Area SHO Gulzar Ali Tunio said that the police had got some clues about the motive of the murder, however, they were waiting for relatives to lodge an FIR with the police to formally launch a probe into the incident.
By-election security matters

KARACHI: A tough contest is expected among candidates of major political parties contesting the by-election in a water-starved Karachi National Assembly constituency, NA-249, polling for which is going to be held on Thursday (tomorrow).
NA-249, Karachi West II, was created in 2018 by amalgamating areas that previously fell in two NA constituencies (NA-239 and NA-240) during three general elections held from 2002 to 2013.
Before the creation of this constituency, NA-240 was considered to be a stronghold of the then Altaf Hussain-led Muttahida Qaumi Movement as an overwhelming majority of Urdu-speaking voters lived there. In the delimitation for the 2018 election, areas from old NA-239 and NA-240, said to be dominated by people of other ethnic backgrounds, were merged to form the NA-249 constituency.

A man was shot on Rashid Minhas Road in Gulshan-e-Iqbal on Monday. Rescuers transported the man to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The Gulshan-e-Iqbal police said that 24-year-old Arsalan, son of Falak Nawaz, worked at a superstore and he was standing outside his workplace when some unidentified persons shot and killed him. The police suspected personal enmity as the motive behind the killing.

A man, 50-year-old Yousuf, was injured in a firing incident that took place within the limits of Pak Colony police station. He was taken to the Civil Hospital.

Mir Badshah, 45, was shot and injured in the Safoora Chowrangi area, said a Sachal police station official. Police said that the man was shot at after he resisted a mugging bid. A Pak Colony police station official said that 55-year-old Yaqoob was injured in a firing incident that took place in the Bara Board area, adding that the man was taken to the Civil Hospital.

Five people were injured for resisting mugging bids in the city on Monday. According to the Sharifabad police, a shop owner was shot and wounded in Liaquatabad. He was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment where he was identified as 28-year-old Muzammil Ayub, son of Ayub Hassan. The police said the incident took place for putting up resistance during a robbery bid at his shop.
Separately, 35-year-old Bilal Ahmed was wounded in a firing incident in SITE Area. Police said the incident took place after the victim offered resistance during a mugging bid. According to the Pak Colony police, 30-year-old Qadir was wounded for offering resistance during a mugging bid in Old Golimar. The man was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medical treatment.
