Prime Minister Narendra Modi wins the Varanasi seat with a reduced victory margin in a closely contested election against INDIA bloc candidate and UP Congress chief Ajay Rai. Despite the decrease in victory margin, Modi secured 6,12,970 votes to defeat Rai, who received 4,60,457 votes. The reduced margin was attributed to the consolidation of non-BJP votes in favor of the INDIA bloc candidate.
The counting of votes in Varanasi parliamentary seat, Chandauli, and Machhlishehr Lok Sabha constituency will take place amid multi-layer security arrangements. District election and police officials inspected the counting venue and strong rooms. 700 polling staff will be involved in the counting process starting at 6:30am. Security measures include central paramilitary forces, PAC, and police deployment. Seating arrangements for polling agents have been made at each counting table.
