Krampus Fun for Everyone

Krampus Fun for Everyone Calling all naughty listers! If you managed to make it onto the naughty list this year, legend has it you’ll be visited by Krampus, an anthropomorphic, horned goat-like figure who smacks all misbehaving children with birch rods. This event, put on by Northwest Pagan Fest and Spokane Magical Moot, won’t feature any birch rods but will include Krampus carols, the chance to sit on Krampus’ lap for a photo, and occasional terror as Krampus makes his way around the library greeting all of his adoring fans. All attendees receive a small gift from Krampus just for showing up to his celebration. Donations are not required but are appreciated to help fund next year’s Northwest Pagan Fest.

Pagan Community Gathers for Metaphysical Fair in Burlington

David Hightower | TSPR File Photo The Burlington riverfront was a beacon of spiritual activity during the annual Metaphysical Fair at the Port of Burlington. 30 vendors provided everything from Tarot, Psychic, Aura, and other readings, materials for casting spells, essential oils, and even artwork. This is the Metaphysical Fair’s seventh year in Burlington. Organizer Lydia Gittings said people in southeast Iowa have been accepting of the Pagan community. When people come in with questions, we answer and they see that we re just normal people who just happen to live spiritually, Gittings said.  We re in tune with the earth and the stars and the elements. It kind of vibes back to the old hippy days.

Metaphysical Fair to feature psychics, tarot cards, crystals, vendors

The Hawk Eye Southeast Iowa Metaphysical Fair will offer one-stop shopping for the spiritually adventurous Saturday at the Port of Burlington. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the annual bazaar for all things spiritual will host about 30 vendors displaying various metaphysical branches. The entry fee is $5. Visitors will find tarot card readers, reiki healing, reflexology, masseuses, rune readers and psychic readers, along with vendors selling oils, sprays, soaps, crystals and hippie-style clothing, much of which The Broom Closet and Healing Haven, which is hosting the fair, also offer. Tarot is trending, evidenced by brisk sales of tarot decks at The Broom Closet and Healing Haven, which has grown to two locations, 1110-B Agency St., Burlington, and 811 Avenue G, Fort Madison.
