Chief Minister M. K. Stalin on Friday reviewed COVID-19 prevention measures under implementation in Pudukottai district through video-conference from the Secretariat at Chennai.
Mr. Stalin reviewed the number of COVID-19 patients in the district, treatment being provided to them, the number of COVID treatment centres, number of fever camps being conducted, the number of RT-PCR tests being done and the prevention measures.
He ascertained the oxygen stock in government hospitals in the district, the number of treatment beds, information regarding 50 % per cent bed facilities available in private hospitals, the number of medical department staff and about basic facilities in hospitals.

Adequate beds have been created in the district for treatment of COVID-19 patients, Collector P. Uma Maheswari said on Tuesday.
A total number of 450 beds were added in Pudukottai Medical College Hospital; 70 in Aranthangi Government Headquarters Hospital; 300 in 12 Taluk Government Hospitals; 100 beds in Old Government Hospital and 190 beds in six private hospitals to treat those with symptoms.
To treat those infected by the virus but without any symptoms, 300 beds had been created in 10 upgraded PHCss; 125 beds in Backward Classes Welfare students hostel in Pudukottai; 75 beds in Adi Dravidar students hostel in Pudukottai; 125 beds in ITI at Viralimalai; 75 beds in Aranthangi Polytechnic College and 100 beds in Government Arts College for Women in Pudukottai.
‘Engage 108 ambulance to reach hospital’

District Collector P. Uma Maheswari on Monday said that the general public who test positive for COVID-19 could avail the ‘108’ ambulance service to transport them to the hospital.
In a statement issued here, Ms. Uma Maheswari said those testing positive should desist from travelling in a bus, autorickshaw, rail and taxi to reach the hospital as the probability of rapid spread of the infection was very high.
An 108 ambulance has been stationed in every taluk in the district to transport COVID-19 positive persons to the hospital from their residences.
The COVID-19 afflicted persons should isolate themselves in their homes till the 108 ambulances arrive to take them to the hospital, the Collector further said, adding that sufficient beds had been kept in a state of readiness at private and government hospitals in the district to treat positive patients.

The district administration has made arrangements for administering COVID-19 vaccine on April 24 to all contesting candidates, their agents and government officials including police personnel who are to be involved in the counting of votes scheduled to take place on May 2, Collector P. Uma Maheswari said on Thursday.
Information in this regard had been conveyed to all contesting candidates, Ms. Uma Maheswari said while seeking their cooperation.
