Since the major dams of the district have sufficient storage level now, sale of certified paddy seeds, fertilizers and pesticides for ‘kar’ season through the Agriculture Extension Centres is going on.
In a statement, Joint Director of Agriculture Gajendra Pandian said that arrangements had been made for ensuring hassle-free sale of certified paddy seeds to the farmers, who had started the preparatory works on their fields during the COVID-19-induced lockdown. The farmers can buy the seeds, fertilizers and pesticides from the Agriculture Extension Centres till noon every day.

‘Engage 108 ambulance to reach hospital’

District Collector P. Uma Maheswari on Monday said that the general public who test positive for COVID-19 could avail the ‘108’ ambulance service to transport them to the hospital.
In a statement issued here, Ms. Uma Maheswari said those testing positive should desist from travelling in a bus, autorickshaw, rail and taxi to reach the hospital as the probability of rapid spread of the infection was very high.
An 108 ambulance has been stationed in every taluk in the district to transport COVID-19 positive persons to the hospital from their residences.
The COVID-19 afflicted persons should isolate themselves in their homes till the 108 ambulances arrive to take them to the hospital, the Collector further said, adding that sufficient beds had been kept in a state of readiness at private and government hospitals in the district to treat positive patients.

The district administration has made arrangements for administering COVID-19 vaccine on April 24 to all contesting candidates, their agents and government officials including police personnel who are to be involved in the counting of votes scheduled to take place on May 2, Collector P. Uma Maheswari said on Thursday.
Information in this regard had been conveyed to all contesting candidates, Ms. Uma Maheswari said while seeking their cooperation. Arrangements have been made to administer vaccines to police personnel at the Armed Reserve Ground. Vaccination for government officials, candidates and their agents would be done at the respective Returning Officer s office premises, Ms. Uma Maheswari told report
