In his decision this morning to once again get into the culture war by attacking mostly black athletes for kneeling. Trump writing the nfl players are at it again taking a knee when they should be stands proudly for the national anthem. He added be happy, be cool, a Football Game that fans are
paying so much to watch and enjoy, is no place to protest. Stand proudly or be suspended from playing. crisis. let me read you some of the reporting from your great colleagues. your paper today under the headline trump called epstein a terrific guy who enjoyed younger girls before denying relationship with him reports this, quote, outside of trump s own words, there s clear evidence that the two men, epstein and trump, both members of the same high-flying societies in manhattan and palm beach, socialized together in the past. epstein visited trump s mar-a-lago club in palm beach and poised f posed for photos there. the epstein s address book leaked by an employee in 1999. what s the response to that. . well, the relationship does seem to have cooled slightly in recent years. but the truth is this is kind of standard behavior for this president, which is we don t have time to list all of the people with whom the president claims not to know.
42% say it is sometimes appropriate. david, how do you read those numbers? on the one hand, i think that number has fallen. i think it was over 60% the folks were saying over a year ago saying it is never appropriate. so i wonder do some of those outside of trump s base who say never appropriate, how does these comments from him lay as a cynical racially charged. a majority of people suggest you should stand for the national anthem. and there is a leadership component. the reality is those who kneel are doing so out of patriotism not pushing back against patriotism. and to eugene s point, doing it
saving drugs and he wants to provide schools with free supplies of the nasal spray narcan, one of those medications. joining us now, eugene scott. good to have you with us this morning. what s been the reaction to this plan that the president unveiled yesterday? it s not the first time we ve heard him propose controversial measures like the death penalty for drug dealers, but how much support realistically is there for this? and are there potentially a lot of legal challenges to it? well, there is significant support among his base. you may have noticed while watching his speech that he got a bit of a standing ovation from those who gathered. but there are real concerns from those outside of trump s base about the legality of all of this. i mean, when you think about the eighth amendment to the constitution, it addresses cruel and unusual punishment. and there are also genuine concerns about who could be disproportionately impacted by this. we have data that shows that people of colo
