Prepare to party like it’s 1999 on March 20. That is the date Gov. Jared Polis wants Colorado to celebrate “Meat Out Day.” Indulge in emulsifiers, fillers, and preservatives. Gulp down that Methylcellulose like it’s the last day on earth. Or, consider eating meat.
While contemplating “Meat Out Day,” remember that less is more when it comes to food labels. One can enjoy a healthy vegan diet without falling for the fashionable marketing claims about burgers and other meat facsimiles made with ingredients few can pronounce.
Manufactured “meat” is supposed to be the coup de grâce against traditional American meat products. They tell us it is healthier for humans and the environment. It is for sale at most grocery stores and fast-food chains.

PUEBLO COUNTY â Pueblo County is taking a stand against one of Governor Jared Polis recent proclamations.
In response to Polis proclaiming March 20 as MeatOut Day, the county has declared that same date to be Cattlemen s Day.
The proclamation naming March 20, 2021, as MeatOut Day lists health risks associated with meat-based diets and celebrates the environmental benefits of vegan and vegetarian lifestyles.
While the occasion is welcomed by the vegan community, cattle ranchers see it as a slight against their industry.

Celebrate “Meat-In Day” on March 20
Cities, counties, community organizations, restaurants, grocers and other businesses plan to fire up their grills, hold barbecues and celebrate the meat industry on March 20 in response to a proclamation by Colorado Governor Jared Polis declaring it “Meat Out Day.” The language in the proclamation, which is backed by a group called Farm Animal Rights Movement, claims a plant-based diet can “protect the environment by reducing our carbon footprint, preserving forests, grasslands, and wildlife habitats, and reduces pollution of waterways.” Additionally, it suggests that “removing animal products from our diets reduces the risk of various ailments, including heart disease, high-blood pressure, stroke, various cancers, and diabetes.” In response, the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association launched a fundraising campaign, accepting donations of $200, of which $50 will go directly to support feeding hungry children
