According to commission documents, there were previously four polling stations for approximately 47,000 voters, in the Auburn area, compared to five places for 28,000 voters in the Opelika area.
The plan presented by District 1 Commissioner Doug Cannon, would provide $2 million to the project in October 2024, $1 million in October 2025 and $1 million in October 2026,
"We ve been in discussion with the architect McKee & Associates and the highway department about re-scoping this bid in order to lower the overall cost," Parks Manager Ryan Norris said.
