FG expends N140bn on off-grid Naija Solar project

x The alternative power project Asolar Niaja project being powered under the Rural Electrification Agency REA was launched at the weekend with the deployment of 100,000 solar home system at Jangefe community, Roni local government area of Kazaure in Jigawa State. The alternative power project will enrich 5 million homes across the country especially those in off-grid communities with solar power connections. Unveiling the new energy project, vice president Osinbajo said that the new energy program was anchored under the Federal Government’s economic sustainability plan to generate job opportunities and improve the socio-economic wellbeing of Nigerians. x Osinbajo noted that the Muhammadu Buhari administration considered the alternative energy supply due to the challenges bedeviling energy generation through the national grid.

Ebonyi attack: Osinbajo visits affected areas, says the dead will get justice

Views: 170 Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has assured the people of Ebonyi State that the federal government will ensure that they get justice over the recent killings in Ishielu LGA of the state. At least 15 people were killed on March 31, when gunmen invaded some communities in the state. The attacks took place in Nkalaha, Obegu, Amazu, Nkalagu, and Umuhuali communities in Ishielu LGA.   Residents had accused herders of carrying out the attacks, but the police have not confirmed the identities of the perpetrators. During a visit to the state on Sunday, Osinbajo urged the people not to take justice into their hands because “nobody knows where it will end”.

Osinbajo wades into Imo APC crisis, meets Okorocha

Punch Newspapers Sections John Alechenu, Abuja  The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, on Wednesday, held a closed-door meeting with the Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District, Rochas Okorocha, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, in a bid to resolve the political crisis in Imo State. Okorocha, a former governor of the state is embroiled in a political feud with his successor and fellow member of the All Progressives Congress, Governor Hope Uzodinma. Speaking to State House correspondents shortly after the meeting, Okorocha said, “The whole thing to me sounds like a movie, a joke, a dream that does not reflect any practical reality, but I am a father, I’m a leader of that state and I am trying to make sure things don’t escalate beyond control.
