Bill O Leary/The Washington Post via Getty Images(BALTIMORE, Md.) More than 150 priests and others associated with the Archdiocese of Baltimore are accused of sexually abusing more than 600 children in a newly released report from Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown.
The report, which examined thousands of documents dating back to the 1940s, states that the number of abused children is “likely far higher” than 600.
“The sheer number of abusers and victims, the depravity of the abusers’ conduct, and the frequency with which known abusers were given the opportunity to continue preying upon children are astonishing,” read the report.
The Archdiocese of Baltimore is the oldest diocese in the United States, established in 1789.
The Maryland Office of the Attorney General began its investigation in 2018, seeking not only instances of abuse, but also the effort by leadership to cover up the illegal behavior.

Beata Zawrzel/NurPhoto via Getty Images(BOSTON) A Defense Department training exercise in Boston went wrong when federal personnel incorrectly detained a person in a hotel who was not a part of the exercise, according to an FBI spokesperson.
Around 10 p.m. Tuesday, FBI agents helped Department of Defense officials with a training exercise "to simulate a situation their personnel might encounter in a deployed environment," the FBI said in a statement.
"Based on inaccurate information, they were mistakenly sent to the wrong room and detained an individual, not the intended role player," the FBI said.
Nobody was injured, the FBI said.
The person who was incorrectly detained has not been identified.
"Safety is always a priority of the FBI, and our law enforcement partners, and we take these incidents very seriously," the FBI added. "The Boston Division is reviewing the incident with DOD for further action as deemed appropriate."

Courtesy Ben Crump Law(NEW YORK) Less than a week after his funeral, Irvo Otieno’s official cause of death has just been announced following his death in police custody during an alleged mental health crisis.
Otieno, 28, was being transferred to a mental health hospital when several deputies and hospital staff piled on top of him for more than 10 minutes. According to the medical examiner, the official cause of death is “positional and mechanical asphyxia with restraints,” and the official manner of death is “homicide.”
Family attorneys Ben Crump and Mark Krudys released a statement Monday afternoon after being informed by the Virginia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner regarding the medical examiner’s findings.
According to the release, Caroline Ouko, Otieno’s mother, was initially unable to speak when she first heard the news, but proceeded to demand justice for her son.
“All must know what they did to my son,” she said, according to the release.
