sunday night. it came through like a freight train and flying glass and lifted a concrete table at 15, 20 feet. reporter: debby is creating dangerous conditions throughout florida, and water surrounded this vacation home on sunday. the coast guard used a helicopter to rescue 9 and a dog. an estimated four million people are expected to feel the everybody elses of debby. the governor declared a state of emergency. everyone needs to be very, very cautious. don t take anything for granted, and take care of your family. reporter: debby isn t expected to make landfall until thursday. the national hurricane center reports tropical storm debby weakened slightly today and has sustained winds of 45 miles per hour. first warning weather coverage continues with with bernadette woods tracking where debby is right now. we will start out with the doppler radar. it s pounding florida. any time you have a connection of land and a tropical storm system, it can spin a tornado eas
hello there. welcome to 11 news sunday morning. i m sarah caldwell. jennifer and lisa have the day off. i m lowell melser. top stories in a moment. first, a look outside with ava marie. shaping up to be a nice day. nice day here, but not so great in florida where we re tracking tropical storm debby. we ll have an update on that. we started off the day in the 60 s where we should be this time of year. 65 was the low this morning at b.w.i. thurgood marshall. compare that to normal. 64. normal high, 86. we ll stay well away from that record high of 100 degrees set back in 2010. look at us warm things up. 80 degrees at the airport. winds east at 5 miles an hour and the sun is shining right now. forecast for today, calling us to get at least in the upper 80 s to low 90 s by the afternoon. i think the downtown areas that stay hotter with the concrete, they warm up. 86 for ocean city. we have sunshine right now and the clouds increase towards the afternoon ahead of our next

captions paid for by nbc-universal television good morning, everyone. welcome to today on a sunday. i m lester holt. and i m jenna wolfe. a few days into summer and we re talking about the weather already. the tropical storm season only just begun and we are on our fourth named storm. this one is debby. debby is a bit of concern because no one knows where she s going. the national hurricane center says this is the first time we ve had four tropical storms recorded before july 1st since record keeping began in 1851. right now debby is packing top sustained winds of 50 miles per hour. as i noted, it s a difficult storm to track so people essentially living all along the gulf coast from texas to florida should be on alert this morning as this continues to develop. at least one tornado linked to the storm touched down saturday in southwest florida. luckily no one was hurt. we ll go live to florida in just a moment. then jerry sandusky, reportedly on a suicide watch this
