The needs of veterans. I asked previous secretary for how can i help. What tools dont you have to solve this problem with no response sn again, if there is changes in the law and programs that are necessary it encourage loan forgiveness or whatever would help you attract professionals, i would like to be an ally. Heres my scenario of a couple of stories. Lee mann is a veteran. I mentioned him in opening remarks. He had the fortune of the va calling him to tell him he no longer needed to drive four hours to nebraska from kansas to have a colonoscopy. Thats the good news. That suggested that there is change afoot. Thank you. Down the road, about an hour in plainville, kansas, Larry Mcintyre said he drove three hours to wichita to get a cortizone shot in his shoulder. What does exist is a hometown hospital. Rooks

Terrorism clearly is a transnational crime. We have to have that international piece. The tenyear, again, the landscape changes so rapidly that it is an incredibly hard challenge to think about what we might confront. But i will tell you my sort of utopian vision for where i would like to see us heading and where i would like to see us closer to in ten years. You know, aga

Sometimes its easy to blame congress on funding issues. But i also think when we started the process of next didnt gen there was a lot we didnt know. Theres been a sense we are ready to do nextgen. Its a matter of funding. As we have gone through the panels at an industry level, we recognize, boy, we need to really be careful here. We dont necessarily know. And so in some cases i think what i have heard from congress is, we would like next didngen. What do you need to make it a reality . Im not sure the faa or even the faa and industry together have always consistently arctticulat that. I dont think we have always said, if you give us an extra billion dollars, here is what we would buy, here is when we would deploy it, here is the benefits we would receive. That was particularly acute to me whe

The Intelligence Community to try to increase the amount of transparency about what that community does but thats running against the culture of that community and its a challenge because there are legitimate security reasons you dont blab about what you do but i do think that the lessons the last two years are that to the extent to a much greater extent than in the past the Intelligence Community would benefit from Greater Transparency about what its doing and why. Which is easy to say and hard to do. Do any of our panelists have any comments on the usa freedom act pending in congress and the differences between the house and the Senate Version of the bill, one of our questions related to the provision thats not in the house bill but in the senate bill regarding the special advocate for to be present before the fisa court. There was a provision in the house bill thats somewhat different than the senate bill. So i mean the house bill also had its not exactly special advocate. What it i

To be our last question. Hi. Hows the reseptember economic struggles impacted how states align with federal support and ability of the federal government toates align with fe support and ability of the federal government to give support . So here is the bottom line. There is a lot of downward pressure economically at all levels of government. And so, states and their political subdivisions, we have seen an increase in request for federal assistance, both inside and outside of the disaster declarations, to help offset the impact on budgets. Ill give you a great example. When it snows, there is a need to do removal of snow and ice from the roads. One would expect that most states and local governments would plan and budget for that. As a policy matter we generally dont provide assistance for road treatment unless there is a record or near record know fall. That policy is meeting resistance because record or near record snow falls, governments are struggling to meet their snow removal bud
