Wife of murdered farmer Stefan Smit granted bail on gun charges

The firearms are linked to the murder of her husband, Stefan Smit, who was killed in their home two years ago. She and two others are accused of being behind the alleged assassination, which was made to look like a hit executed by land grabbers. Zurenah Smit, the wife of murdered Stellenbosch vintner Stefan Smit, and one of her co-accused charged with her husband s murder were on Wednesday granted bail of R5 000 on gun charges related to his killing. Smit and Derek Sait appeared in the Stellenbosch Magistrate s Court a week after being granted bail of R10 000 on the murder charge.

Still no trial date for man accused of murdering eight-

After two failed pretrial conferences in the Western Cape High Court to ensure that all documents relating to the case were in order and legal representations sorted out, a trial date for murder accused Moyhdian Pangarker has not been set. On Wednesday, the pre-trial conference was postponed to 19 March due to the unavailability of Pangarker’s legal representative. However, despite the delays Pangarker will get his day in the dock where he will plead to the 20 charges he faces. Volkwyn and his former friend Davidene Lucas faced off on Day 1 of proceedings, with Lucas maintaining that Volkwyn had never handed her son back to her two years ago.

Stripper, brother and three minors reportedly taken in for questioning following murder in Cape Town

Five people were reportedly taken into custody for the murder of a Cape Town man. The victim, identified by Netwerk24 as Vincent Bartes, was found bound in his house in General Hendrick Schoeman Street on Sunday. Police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana told News24 that no one has yet been charged. Five people – including reportedly a stripper and minors – have been taken in for questioning in connection with the murder of a Welgelegen man found dead in his home on Sunday night. The victim, identified by Netwerk24 as Vincent Bartes, was found bound in his house in General Hendrick Schoeman Street.
