Positive COVID-19 Cases Increasing in Pennsylvania
(Harrisburg, PA) Positive COVID-19 cases are continuing to rise in Pennsylvania. The state s Department of Health reported over four-thousand new positive cases yesterday. The total number of cases has now surpassed 876,000 since the beginning of the pandemic. There were also 149 deaths reported yesterday linked to complications of the coronavirus. Governor Wolf Calls for Minimum Wage Increase
(Harrisburg, PA) Governor Tom Wolf is showing his support to increase Pennsylvania s minimum wage. Governor Wolf announced yesterday that he is calling for the state to increase the minimum wage to 12-dollars per hour starting this July. Wolf s proposed plan would add fifty-cent increases to the minimum wage rate every year until 2027 when it reaches 15-dollars per hour. He also proposed an income tax cut that would affect almost three-million citizens in the state.

Governor Tom Wolf signed the 13th renewal of his January 2018 opioid disaster declaration to help the state fight the opioid and heroin epidemic.
This declaration was the first of its kind for a public health emergency in Pennsylvania, and proved to be an important tool to allow the state to respond quickly, adapt to developing needs, increase access to treatment and save lives.
on the road to the multi-billion dollar national opioid catastrophe that would roll on se seamlessly that day in court to ultimately kill 400,000 americans. that cleared the way for the opioid epidemic to continue unabated for another decade plus. but this didn t stop thousands of cities and counties and states from suing purdue pharma themselves for fraudulently marketing oxycontin and misleading the public about the risks of abuse. now here in 2019 it s all coming to a head. there is this federal judge in ohio who is currently overseeing a combined docket of more than 2,000 of these lawsuits against purdue and other companies arguing they should be held liable for fueling the opioid
action in history. trying to hold drugmakers and distributors liable for the opioid catastrophe that s killed more than 400,000 americans. for its part, purdue pharma stands accused of helping start the crisis by aggressively marketing oxycontin as safe when they knew it was highly addictive and already being abused. because of that, purdue pharma was undoubtedly watching very closely yesterday when a different pharmaceutical company, johnson & johnson, was held responsible by a judge in oklahoma for johnson & johnson s role in fueling the opioid epidemic in that state. johnson & johnson was ordered to pay $572 million in that trial. verdict. now, that was a landmark decision. because that was the first trial verdict to hold a drug company liable for the opioid disaster. that was just yesterday. shiver down the spine of all the other drug companies, right? that s only the first verdict and it s more than half a billion dollars for that one company. what s going to happen to the rest of
