Investigators are casting a wide net in their inquiry, dubbed Operation Kian, interviewing various people in Polkinghorne’s colourful social milieu. On Tuesday, a detective visited the Remuera flat of his barber – a man with whom he had spent time socially with a mutual female friend - asking him to come in for an interview the following day.
Stuff has also learned detectives have been questioning a masseuse based on the North Shore as part of their enquiries into Hanna’s death. Neighbours said the eye surgeon was a frequent visitor to the unit she owned, sometimes seeing his white Mercedes C-Class sedan several times a week. He was among several male clients.

Stuff spoke to the man after the detective’s visit on Tuesday, he said he had every intention of co-operating with police, and he did not plan to ask for a lawyer.

Police are investigating after a death in the Auckland suburb of Remuera.
Police are not ruling out foul play one month on from the death of a prominent Auckland health boss at her home in Remuera. Detectives continue to treat the sudden death on April 5 of Pauline Hanna, also known as Pauline Polkinghorne, as unexplained, as their investigation entered its fourth week.
Stuff has learned detectives have information suggesting Hanna had recently enlisted the services of a private investigator. As part of their inquiry, dubbed Operation Kian, they are working to track down that private investigator, whom Hanna had employed within the year before her death, it is understood.
