International restaurant brands like Shake Shack and Taco Bell love to take a gamble on the Beijing F&B market (with varying degrees of success), but it s rare to see an international Chinese restaurant group try their luck. That s why we were interested to hear that China Tang, an upscale Chinese restaurant originally launched by the late entrepreneur Sir David Tang at the Dorchester in London in 2005, was opening in Beijing in WF Central.
China Tang s London and Hong Kong locations are known for their dazzling turn-of-the-century-Chinoiserie-meets-neon decor and while the Beijing location doesn t hit that mark, the surroundings are still plush. You already know the local favorites like Migas Mercado, Mosto, Beersmith, Hulu, and all the rest. They’ve been around for a while and already earned their place in our hearts. Hot Noodles Cold Sake
Chef Josh Hebert decided to close the physical location of Hot Noodles Cold Sake after serving ramen from the Scottsdale noodle shop for nearly five years.
Creamistry Uptown
There are still several Creamistry ice cream locations in town, but the liquid nitrogen has stopped flowing at the Uptown location.
Nori Sushi Desert Ridge
Japanese restaurant Nori Sushi has ended its run at Desert Ridge Marketplace. However, the three other locations High Street, McDowell Marketplace, and at the intersection of Thompson Peak Parkway and Bell Road are still open.
Stratta Kitchen
James Beard award-winning chef, Alex Stratta, closed Stratta Kitchen. However, he s opening a new eatery in the same space. It ll be called Campo Italian Bistro and Bar, and it s set to open this May.

As any good bar deserves, they’ll be going out with a blast, offering buy-one-get-one drinks all night for its final days, today and tomorrow (Jan 29-30).
“A lot of businesses are facing [an] unprecedented sever test,” the announcement of closure read. “Unfortunately, we didn’t survive this disaster.”
First Floor opened in 2010, making it an early bird in post-Olympic Beijing. Its closing now gives it a legacy bookmarked squarely between the two most reshaping events the city has seen this century.
