The income-tax department has sent notices to 15 such influencers, who had flaunted their overseas holidays and luxury shopping, for paying zero or "substantially low" tax despite receiving hefty fees from companies whose products they promoted through their posts, a senior official told ET.
New regulations governing the use of online information are being drafted and issued within 2023, under which all users of social networks, including foreign ones such as Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok, will be required to verify themselves, according to Deputy Minister of Information and Communications (MIC) Nguyen Thanh Lam.
