The ANC in the Eastern Cape has welcomed high court judge Igna Stretch's decision to rescind her last week's ruling that 37 branch general meetings held in the ANC region of Dr WB Rubusana (Buffalo City) were unlawful.
A ruling that may have raised questions over the ANC leadership in the Eastern Cape was rescinded by the courts on Friday. On Tuesday, judge Igna Stretch ruled in the East London high court that about 40 branch general meetings held in the WB Rubusana region between February and March were unconstitutional.
ANC provincial chair and premier Oscar Mabuyane was tight-lipped on Wednesday after a court ruling left a cloud hovering over his re-election. But the provincial executive committee he leads, and Dr WB Rubusana regional executive committee, vowed to fight the nullification of branches.
