Some residents of Edo State took over the Benin-Sapele-Warri Road near the bypass, on Thursday, to protest the bad state of the road and its abandonment by both the federal and state governments.
They said it had become difficult to ply the road and lamented that several petitions written to the federal and state governments did not receive positive responses.
One of the residents of the area, who is the Chairman of the Sapele Road Bypass Axis, Daniel Omorogbe, said, “Some of our children can no longer go to school. Our cars are going bad. We are finding it difficult to use this road, which connects us to other South-South states.

There was difficulty plying the very bad portion of the Benin–Sapele–Warri near the bypass Thursday as road users and residents in the area took over the bad portion of the road as they protested the bad state of the road and seeming abandonment by both the federal and state government.
They said several petitions written to the state and federal governments have not been responded to positively.
