The Delhi Police have released a detailed traffic advisory to ensure smooth vehicular movement during Independence Day celebrations. Restricted entry and parking will be enforced from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m. around Red Fort, where the Prime Minister will address the nation. Local buses, goods vehicles, and interstate buses will also face restrictions, and diversions will be in place.

Tushar Gandhi, the great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, was temporarily detained by police in Mumbai whilst attempting to join a rally commemorating Quit India Day at Mumbai s August Kranti Maidan. Tushar Gandhi, along with other participants including Teesta Setalvad and G.G. Parikh, eventually reached the Maidan after permission was denied for the rally due to law and order issues.
The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), a Hindu-right wing group, carried out a demonstration in Noida despite the imposition of CrPC Section 144 following communal violence in Haryana. The VHP demands monetary aid for the kin of two members from its youth wing Bajrang Dal that died in the clashes. The VHP also demanded strict action against “anti-national forces,” compensation for those harmed and the destruction of their vehicles and buses to the public and Bajrang Dal at INR 1 crore and 20 lakhs, respectively.
